The Trustees

In 1816, the Trustees purchased the land from the nearby Presbyterian Church for the sum of $1,600 for the express purposed of maintaining it "as a Green or Common forever, with the liberty and privilege of ornamenting said Green or Common, at their own expense, in such a way they many think proper." The tradition of their stewardship continues and enters its third century.
